Turn your book into an audiobook

Narration, editing, proofing and mastering, delivered to audio store specification. You keep the files and the rights.

How the conversion works

1. You send the finished book

The final manuscript, your cover artwork, and a note about any names, places or invented words you want pronounced a particular way.

2. You choose a narrator

We send narrator options with a sample chapter read in each voice. Nothing is recorded in full until you have picked the one that sounds like your book.

3. Narration and proofing

The book is recorded, then proofed line by line against the manuscript. Mistakes are re-recorded, not patched over.

4. Editing and mastering

Breaths, room noise and pacing are cleaned up, and the whole book is mastered to the loudness and file standards the audio stores require.

5. Store-ready delivery

You receive the finished chapter files, the retail sample, and a narrated sample chapter you can post anywhere you like.

Why bother

What an audiobook actually does for a book that is already published

  • Reaches readers who commute, walk or work and never sit down with a print book
  • A second income stream from a manuscript you have already written
  • Sells on audio stores and subscription platforms alongside the print and ebook
  • Accessible to readers with sight difficulties or reading differences
  • Listeners often finish books they would have abandoned in print
  • A narrated sample doubles as promotional material for social media
  • Audio keeps earning long after launch week is over

Questions authors ask

How long does an audiobook take?
Most books of 70,000 to 90,000 words take four to six weeks from the day the narrator is agreed. Longer books and heavy footnoting take longer, and we tell you the schedule before you commit.
Can I narrate my own book?
Yes. Memoir and poetry often sound better in the author's own voice. You record to our specification or with us, and we handle the editing, proofing and mastering.
Who owns the finished audiobook?
You do. You receive the master files and you decide where they are sold.
What does it cost?
It depends on length and whether you or a hired narrator reads it. Send the word count and we will send a figure — we do not publish a price list because no two books are the same.

Send us the book

Word count, genre and publication date are enough for a first quote. If a recorded interview or a written interview would serve the book better, we will say so.
